Alumni Mentorship Network
Project Invent is an educational nonprofit, enabling high school students with design thinking by working with real world users and mentors from companies like Apple, Google, IDEO, and more to create solutions for social good.
I proposed and created an alumni mentorship program for more than 65 teams in 15 states across the country to provide advice and help. I created a curriculum for mentors that focused primarily on helping new teams develop outreach, user research, and networking skills.

After working with teams across the country serving roles like panelist and team advisor, I noticed the power of student-driven teaching and leadership for design curriculum.
After noticing that students often faded into the distance after pitching their projects, I proposed a program to keep alumni involved as mentors to the organization. I was tasked with designing and piloting the program.
Using our first year as a pilot program to hone the curriculum, I guided a network of 15 student mentors to leverage their experience with user outreach, prototyping, iterating, networking, and outreach to guide new teams of students and their faculty mentors.
Alumni mentors met with teams virtually biweekly or monthly to guide them along the process, before finally meeting in person for Demo Day pitch feedback!
The delivered (and adopted) program had proven results, empowering student design.
